Support Black Humanist Studies
The Black Humanist Studies Association is a scholarly society devoted to advancing and promoting research and teaching on humanism in the African Diaspora. Founded by Dr. Anthony Pinn and Dr. Christopher Cameron, we welcome students, faculty, independent scholars, and practitioners of Black humanism to join us in this effort.

mission statement
The Black Humanist Studies Association (BHSA) is dedicated to promoting the study, teaching,
and dissemination of Black Humanist Studies. Through research, collaboration, and public
engagement, we illuminate the contributions of Black humanist thinkers and traditions while
fostering a supportive community for scholars and educators. BHSA seeks to advance critical
inquiry, ethical discourse, and cultural understanding to address the intersections of race, identity,
and secular thought.
